I have tested a ubuntu -  linux system some days -  and my first hand expression is very nice. It easy to use and understand - the intereface are for my self explanning. It is free so it is a good alternative for Microsoft and Apple. Tjek it out on http://www.ubuntu.com/-  so if you don't have the economic ressources for a Microsoft system or Apple then use Ubuntu.
